Beyond the lake resides impressions of bygone hours
A child waits here holding crumpled and torn pages
The air is thick with the weight of crestfallen towers
At the top of these ruins she calls out and rages
Memories of what could be led me to here
Youthful innocence handing me a key
Dare I stare into a broken spyglass
Of what could have been?

The tape has faded - static has consumed
The truth is cruel and so is the lie
This recorded truth has collected dust

Ascend the steps ever higher like a flame
It's always burning yet her flesh won't melt away
The rusted frames with melded monstrous weight
No longer torment - she's decided on her fate
She's aged immensely - her halo rusted black
She used to fear Hell but now she calls it home
Her rage engulfs her - she sees that I am stained
I can't be sorry enough - she turns her back and jumps
Part III - Smothered
The sky peeks through the rust.... It's grey and cold still
Decaying in the sick bed my reason to come lies there
